The Wilderness Hotel Inari’s location is breathtaking and is at the centre of Finnish Sámi culture overlooking Lake Inari. Learn about the indigenous people of Northern Scandinavia, visiting a reindeer herders’ home as well as Siida, the National Sami Museum in Inari. You will have plenty of time to have some adventures in the snow as well, with husky mushing and searching for the Northern lights by snowmobile. The lack of light pollution gives a great opportunity for Aurora hunters.

15 DEC Finnish Lapland

Fly to Ivalo directly from London Gatwick and transfer to the Wilderness Hotel Inari where you can change straight into your thermal clothing and head down to the lake to enjoy the snow. Return to the hotel for a welcome buffet dinner in the restaurant, and look out for a display of the northern lights from the restaurant's panoramic windows.

16 DEC Snowmobiling

After breakfast, try your hand at snowmobiling, exploring the magnificent scenery. Travelling in pairs, you will take turns to drive the snowmobile, while children will be pulled in a sled driven by the guide. Return for lunch, and in the afternoon, try your hand at cross country skiing or snowshoeing before dinner in the hotel.

17 DEC Husky Safari

A husky safari is a "must do" experience when visiting Lapland. You will be taught how to handle the sled before you head out on the husky safari, where the huskies will pull your sled through the beautiful winter scenery. Enjoy the excitement of the dogs before the start, and the serene silence once they get to do what they love - run in the snowy scenery. In the evening, you will visit an Aurora Camp, giving you a good opportunity to admire the northern lights. You will be able to cook some sausages and enjoy a warming drink.

18 DEC Visit to Reindeer Farm and Siida Museum

This morning, you will visit a local Sámi Reindeer Farm, in the village of Menesjarvi and be welcomed into the family home to learn about the way of life of the reindeer herder. You will snuggle into a sledge and be pulled by snowmobile to meet the reindeer in the wilderness. Get close to the reindeer while they are feeding, and enjoy some fresh coffee traditionally brewed on an open fire. Later in the day visit the Siida Museum of Inari, which has a fascinating collection covering every aspect of Sámi history and culture.

19 DEC Return to the UK

It is an early departure from Ivalo airport, so you will be given a packed beakfast to have at the airport before your direct flight back to London Gatwick.
